After mixed construction waste enters the silo, it is conveyed by a chain conveyor to remove oversized materials exceeding 500mm. The waste then enters a drum screen (30mm aperture) for sorting into materials smaller than 30mm (gravel) and larger than 30mm.

Materials smaller than 30mm are sorted by magnetic separator and air separator and then stored for backfilling or fine aggregate production. Materials larger than 30mm enter an air classifier system for sorting into lightweight materials (plastics, textiles) and heavyweight materials (bricks, stones).

Lightweight materials are manually sorted and then recycled to produce RDF fuel rods or baled for storage and sale. Heavyweight materials undergo simple inspection, then are crushed and screened into reusable building aggregates.
